Waterfalls Visited While Hiking in the Columbia River Gorge

            A view from an overlook on the hiking trail Eagle Creek Trail #440. This is looking down to Upper Punchbowl Falls. Because of what I perceived was a large dynamic range in lighting for the setting, I tried to expose this capture as much as I could on the highlights from the sunlight coming in this alcove that formed around the falls. At first I decided to focus on images with the waterfalls itself. For this image, I pulled back deciding to capture more of the surrounding area. With the lush, vibrant greens of the trees and vegetation, it added to the feel of a peaceful, serene locale where the only thing that might be heard was rustle of wind coming through the trees and water from Eagle Creek coming over the edge to the pool below.

To comment on Flickr's choice of GPS locations, the GPS data clearly shows this in Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge but adds in a Washington locations. Not certain the why's of this...
