Once Upon A Time... - a photo on Flickriver

            This is a shot that when I took it I didn't give it much thought. We were chasing light as much as we were chasing the train at this point. I did a quick and dirty edit and never exported the image to my hard drive.

As I was going back through old files I find that now, nearly 8 months later, I like this frame a lot. A couple more tweaks to the orignal edit and I've got an image that reminds me a lot of my childhood.

I spent a number of years as a youngster living in Western PA, including the town of Fredonia, which we see here. My grandfather, who built rail cars at the Greenville Steel Car Company, also worked in Fredonia after he retired (correct me if I'm wrong family). And of course the mighty Bessemer and Lake Erie tunnel motor (which was not around when I lived out there) simply cannot be beat. I remember the mighty orange beasts dragging coal and ore through Greenville when I was young, along with walking along their rails to the park in Greenville (WHOOPS!).

At any rate, here we have a northbound scrap train hustling through the last rays of light as rolls through the tiny town of Fredonia PA on October 12, 2016.
