Galls of the Sage Leaf Gall Midge, Rhopalomyia audibertiae on Black Sage

While galls don't typically stress their host drastically, the tip of this yellowish leaf has been attacked (eaten) by another organism, probably an insect, and appears to be stressing. And galls appear to have deformed the small, new leaf at upper left. But while the plant had very many galls, overall it looked relatively healthy.
