75 years ago... - a photo on Flickriver

75 years ago...

            Today I found three roses dropped at the edge of the sea, beyond a gap in the historical coastal palisades on Baltrum Island. One red rose, one yellow and one pink. I don't know, who dropped them there or why. I assume they are meant as a sort of memorial. A relative or friend, who passed away, someone lost at sea, or maybe to honor the attempted assination of Hitler on 20th July 1944, 75 year ago, planned and conducted by a group of very brave officers.

Ich habe heute drei Rosen gefunden, die nahe einem Durchgang am historischen Pfahlwerk in Baltrum am Rande der Nordsee abgelegt wurden. Eine rote, eine gelbe und eine in rosa. Ich weiß nicht, wer sie dort hingelegt hat oder warum. Ich nehme an, dass sie an etwas erinnern sollen. An einen verstorbenen Verwandten oder Freund, jemanden, der auf See geblieben ist, oder an das versuchte Attentat auf Hitler vor 75 Jahren, am 20. Juli 1944, das von einer Gruppe von sehr mutigen Offizieren geplant und ausgeführt wurde.
