On the Rocks - a photo on Flickriver

On the Rocks

            Last weekend, my girlfriend and I hiked up one of our local “mountains”, but instead of photographing the summit cross, we searched for other compositions. A little left to the summit cross, it was again going down and right at the slope there was a tree whose roots were on top of the rocks on the ground (one of them is visible on the right in this image). Since we both thought that this makes a nice composition, we kept shooting the setting sun together with this tree and its roots in the foreground. A couple of images later, the sun was already very low and we decided to move on to look for other possible compositions, but before that I took this quick snapshot because I liked the tree on top of the rock on the left. I was kind of bothered by the fact that the tree does not stand out that much, i.e., it’s crown is not above the mountains in the distance, but holding the camera lower then blocked the sun and hence I only took two of these images. However, back at the computer, it turns out that this snapshot is one of our favourites. Hope you like it too! :)
