Colony of Woolly Aphids on Apple - a photo on Flickriver

            In some ways my most pleasing find of the 2014 Bioblitz. This is a gall-causing species which was quite common in Attenborough during the 1960s, and one I've looked for off and on since 2008. 
One important aspect of bioblitzes is to confirm older records. All too often older records are not continually vlaidated by regular surveys. Species may be lost, or habitats degraded before it is properly noticed. One problem is that the people most familiar with any location tend to become habituated to a gradual series of changes, and just assume something is still there because they havent looked for it recently.
In good cecidological tradition it was found in the car park.
