O rio Manzanares é um rio do centro de Espanha, afluente do rio Jarama, que por sua vez é afluente do rio Tejo. O Manzanares nasce na serra de Guadarrama, no Ventisquero de la Condesa, e passa em Madrid.

A sua bacia hidrográfica, desde o seu nascimento até ao Monte del Pardo, constitui o Parque Regional de la Cuenca Alta del Manzanares, e tem uma área de 463,32 km².

A Casa de Campo é o maior parque público do município de Madrid, Espanha. Está situado na vertente mais ocidental da cidade, no bairro de Casa de Campo (distrito de Moncloa-Aravaca). A sul está o distrito de Latina e a oeste está o município de Pozuelo de Alarcón. O parque tem uma áre a de 17,22 km² e é contíguo ao parque está o Monte del Pardo.

A Casa de Campo era propriedade da Coroa Espanhola, servindo de couto de caça da realeza. Após a proclamação da Segunda República, o parque foi cedido pelo Estado à cidade e aos seus habitantes, ficando desta forma aberto ao público.

No parque estão instalados o Parque de Atracções, o Jardim Zoológico, um teleférico (que liga a Casa de Campo ao Parque del Oeste, na margem oposta do rio Manzanares), parte dos recintos da IFEMA (Instituição de Feiras de Madrid) e o pavilhão multiusos Madrid Arena.

The river Manzanares has its source near the Navacerrada mountain pass in the Guadarrama mountain range. In the high section of its basin it is surrounded by the Parque Regional de la Cuenca Alta del Manzanares, a nature reserve. The Manzanares flows in a south-eastern direction from its source, and passes through the medieval town of Manzanares el Real where it forms the Santillana reservoir, one of the most important water supplies for the capital. The river then takes a southern direction and enters the Monte del Pardo, a heritage-protected forest belonging to the city of Madrid. The river is canalised where it passes through the built-up areas of the city. The Manzanares skims past the westernmost part of the city and further downstream serves as a dividing line between the old centre of the city and the Carabanchel and Usera neighbourhoods to the southwest. It is along this stretch that it passes next to Atlético Madrid's football ground, the Vicente Calderón. The river leaves the city at its southernmost tip. It makes a strong eastern turn which takes it past the village of Perales del Río and towards the river Jarama, into which it flows near the dormitory town of Arganda del Rey, ending its 83km (51 mile) journey.

The Casa de Campo is a large urban park situated west of central Madrid, (Spain). It was formerly a royal hunting estate.

An amusement park, the Parque de Atracciones de Madrid, and the Madrid Zoo are located inside the park.

It is common for families from Madrid to spend days in the park, enjoying the nice weather and looking at the wildlife that may be seen around (mostly squirrels, rabbits and different kinds of birds). Near the lake there was a lot of prostitution in recent times.

In 1936-39, during the Spanish Civil War, the front lines of the Siege of Madrid ran through the Casa de Campo, where the Republicans had halted a nationalist offensive in November 1936.
