Statue of King David, Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, Sculptor 1501-1504

            The statue of David by Michelangelo located in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence is not the original rather a full-sized replica.  The original was moved indoors in 1873 to the Accademia Gallery also located in Florence to protect it from the elements. The original is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture created between 1501 and 1504 

For my money, having seen both, I couldn't tell the difference.  The replica at Forest Lawn-Glendale, except for a fig leaf placed over...well, you know what I mean....is also an exact replica.  Please do not use this image in any media without my permission. © All rights reserved.
