Judge Isaac Pacht Residence, S. Charles Lee, Architect 1927

            Famed theater designer S. Charles Lee designed the English Tudor style residence for prominent attorney Isaac Pacht in 1927.  Pacht was appointed judge of the Superior Court, State of California in 1930; he resigned in 1935.  He also served as a trustee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association (1938-1940).  The house was also the home of Joseph Patrick Carroll Naish (January 21, 1896 – January 24, 1973) in
1940. Known professionally as J. Carrol Naish, he was an American character actor.  He was twice nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, the first for his role as Giuseppe in the movie Sahara (1943), and then for his performance as the title character's Hispanic father in the movie A Medal for Benny (1945). For the latter film, he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor –Motion Picture and  later found fame in the title role of CBS Radio's Life With Luigi (1948–1953).
