Downtown Jackson Michigan in Winter Photo by Michigan Municipal League

The Michigan Municipal League represents Michigan's cities and villages and is constantly visisting them. Here are some photos of the League's recent visit to Jackson, Michigan, on a winter late afternoon. The stop included a tour of the historic Armory Arts Village, which once served as Michigan’s first state prison. While it was a bit tough to see on this snowy and chilly afternoon, Jackson has many of the things the League's Center for 21st Century Communities program (www.mml.org/resources/21c3/about .html) calls for, including physical design and walkability, economic development, and entrepreneurship. The League's recently published book, “The Economics of Place: The Value of Building Communities Around People”, focuses on what communities like Jackson can do to become even more vibrant.
