Crosville SNG 588 arriving in Shore Road

            Photographed from the rear platform of Routemaster 4 Hire's open-top RM 1783, former Crosville Series 'B' Leyland National SNG 588 dating from 1979 is seen sweeping into Shore Road in Birkenhead. Only a select few National Bus Company operators took delivery of the Series 'B' Leyland National with Crosville, London Country and West Yorkshire being some of the major bus companies who ran these vehicles in service. The Series 'B' vehicles differed from the standard Leyland Nationals as they were not fitted with the distinctive rear air intake pod on the roof as well as being fitted with Gardner engines.
