Bright Angel - a photo on Flickriver

Bright Angel

            Here's another from the Grand Canyon back in October. This is the only time I've found that the light looks really nice for photography in the canyon... Dusk. The big crack on the other side is the Bright Angel Canyon.

This was just a little east of Mather Point, walking along the rim trail. What a fantastic hike that was. I'm going to have to do that hike again every time I go to the GC from now on. Mather Point is a fantastic viewpoint. BUT... There's always about two thousand people there. Mostly Japanese tourists all standing at the railing shooting photos of each other, standing in front of the canyon. So... From Mather Point, I just walked east, along the rim trail for a couple of miles until I got to Yaki Point where I jumped on a bus to get back to where I parked. It was a beautiful and peaceful hike with nobody around.

One of the times I drove through the park entrance, there was a tour bus stopped there. There were about a hundred Japanese Tourists there, all taking pictures of each other, standing in front of the Grand Canyon sign. Really??? Why??? Wouldn't it make more sense to drive another couple miles and take photos of the ACTUAL CANYON!
