Williamson Park sunset, Lancaster, Lancashire, UK

            Just a week from the summer solstice, this fiery sunset is about as far north as one sees from Lancaster.

The silhouetted foreground is at the north-eastern end of Morecambe, 5.3 km away; the water is the eponymous bay.

On the far side of  Morecambe Bay, the first land is somewhere around Flookburgh, but the island is more specifically identifiable as Chapel Island, 22 km away in the Leven Estuary. Though not visible, Ulverston is directly behing the island, 26 km away.

The undulating summit in the background is Buck Barrow (549 m), 45 km away near the south-western edge of the Lake District; the sun was dropping behind the neighbouring Burn Moor (543 m), fully north-west of here.
