Upper South Falls in the Snow - a photo on Flickriver

            The snow dramatically changes the way a waterfall looks.  We set out hoping for huge icicles hanging from the edge of the waterfall, but the conditions were not quite right for that.  There was plenty of snow though.  Tom Wilson and I scrambled to several different vantage points, under the falls, over the falls, and down mud cliffs (getting quite dirty and risking sliding right into the river).   The falling snow did not help, that stuff is hard to keep out of the images.  At last we caught a break in the weather that actually had some blue skys peeking through.  Go time.  We (actually just me) ran for the key vantage point, hoping to catch the blue in the image.  I don't think I ever set up the tripod faster.  I even lost a foot off the manfroto while setting it up.  No matter, must get the blue.  Well, the scramble was worth the effort.  Nailed it.
