Lower North Falls, Winter - a photo on Flickriver

            This image is from Lower North Falls in the winter.  This is another perspective from behind the falls.  The image looks like a cats eye in my opinion.  This is a composite of many images to handle the huge contract difference.  Its amazing how dry and not-winter the path is behind the falls.  No ice, no snow, no real signs of winter.  Its even warmer back there.  Feet away, however, is a different story.  I was quite surprised how many people were there in the winter, in the snow even.  I thought we would have the place to ourselves, but it was actually hard to get a break between people to get this image.  We have found this true at many of the falls we visit in the winter.  There are travel advisories, the freeways are slick glass, we witnessed at least three car accidents happen in front of us, we pass several more cars by the side of the road with caution tape around them, waiting days for a two truck, some upside-down!  Visiting them is a real nail biting experience.  My wife and I feel like we are taking our lives in our hands to go see these places, and yet, there are crowds?  Certainly a courageous crowd, I have to give them that.
