Green Reflected- - a photo on Flickriver

Green Reflected-

            The light was hitting this Green Heron perfectly to separate it and its reflection from the background.  Greens have lots of color and some interesting calls and antics.  They can pull their neck in or extend it out to what seems like longer than its body.  They often stand on low branches and remain still, waiting for a small fish to come within striking distance.  Once prey is spotted they slowly begin to extend that magical neck and suddenly fire it forward, almost always successfully grabbing their prey.  This one, on the other hand, decided it wanted its picture taken and took an irresistible pose for me.  Thanks Greenie!
