            Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle, Punalu'u Beach Park, Big Island of Hawaii. The Green Sea Turtle (“Honu” in Hawaiian) is listed as endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. In 1978, the Hawaiian population was listed as threatened under the U.S. Endangered Species Act of 1973. Happily, their numbers on the Big Island seem to be increasing.
