Where other early 90s bands gave their non-musican mate a handful of ecstasy, some maracas and pushed them to the front, The Keatons’ Mo Bottomley brought performance art to the audience even when they were first on the bill and missing their future national newspaper columnist guitarist. It may not have been cool but Mo was totally individual and heroic in the physicality of his art. I was never brave enough to wear a striped leotard or a cardboard suit, but Mo showed brilliant nonconformism that connected beyond the T-shirt kids of Harlow with a legacy of unashamed courage.

To shoot an entire roll of film on one band back then shows how dynamic this performance was. A shame I only printed a few and didn't scan the full roll until now.
