Working Together

            Little Rock Central was a flashpoint of integration in the 1950s.  After the Brown v. Board of Education ruling in 1954 that said schools must integrate...the south still managed to resist.  To the point of closing schools completely.

Here, at Central High, 9 black students integrated the school, but had to be accompanied by the federal National Guard throughout the year.  It was a rocky beginning...

When I was here the week of Christmas, I couldn't go into the school.  It was during the completely unnecessary government shutdown.  However, I think the pictures of the exterior turned out quite well.
