Polish PM Donald Tusk announces military training plan for all Polish men.

In a speech to the Polish parliament, Tusk said the government aimed to give full details in the coming months.

Efforts are being made to "prepare large-scale military training for every adult male in Poland," he told the Sejm.

"We will try to have a model ready by the end of this year so that every adult male in Poland is trained in the event of war, so that this reserve is comparable and adequate to the potential threats."

Ukraine's air force says the overnight Russian attack primarily targeted the Ukrainian gas extraction industry.

F-16 and Mirage 2000 jets were used in repelling the attack. This was the first time French Mirage planes were deployed after arriving in Ukraine a month ago, the Ukrainian air force says.

Currently France has just short of 300 nuclear warheads, which can be fired from France-based aircraft or from submarines. 

On Wednesday President Emmanuel Macron aired the idea that France's deterrence force (force de frappe) could – in this highly uncertain new era - be associated with the defence of other European countries
