Long-billed Curlew - a photo on Flickriver

Long-billed Curlew

            Blackie Spit has been the long term home to what is believed to be a female Long-billed Curlew. When I visited last week there was what was believed to be a male Long-billed Curlew hanging out also. "She" was not happy about it and drove it away any time it approached "her". I am hesitant to assign any gender as I certainly cannot determine it and I assume those who have done so have done it more based on behavior. Always more for me to learn.
This is believed to be a male.
