Massive thanks to Hannah Barker for shaving my head in this geodesic pattern just before I set off for the Bridges 2011 math-art conference in Coimbra, Portugal. Credit also goes to Summer Makepeace for doing the first experimental version of this haircut a few weeks ago.

The cut took about two hours. Hannah started off from the crown of my head, creating a diamond/star pattern with a rhombic paper template. We then made aesthetic decisions about where to place the three pentagonal stars to curve around my head. There was even a heptagonal star at the back of my head, across my hyperbolic neck!
