This panorama of Marble Canyon and the Colorado River was constructed using Photoshop Elements to stitch together vertically two landscape-oriented images captured from Navajo Bridge, formerly a vehicular bridge, but now open solely to pedestrian and equestrian traffic.
Here the Colorado River has exited from the bottom of Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam a few miles away on its way to deepening the Grand Canyon, replenishing Lake Mead, generating more hydroelectric power at Hoover Dam and proceeding on its journey from the Rocky Mountains to its final destination at the Gulf of California and the Pacific Ocean. When the constituent images were captured, the Colorado River was missing its signature reddish tint. This was due to the severe drought in the Colorado River basin, and the lack of rain failing to wash the usual reddish silt into the river.
