White Sands Missile Range Museum - a photo on Flickriver

The WSMR Museum is a great place to stop and visit, especially it you have an interest in missiles and rocketry. WSMR has been around for a long, long time (think back to the V2 days) as a testing ground for rockets and missiles and is still in use today.

The museum is located on the Range and is easy to get to, just a right exit off Hwy 70 in New Mexico. If you should want to visit there's a couple of things you should remember. This is still an active testing ground and at this time non-US citizens are not allowed any access to the base or the museum. If you are a US citizen you will need:

1. A Valid form of identification.
2. Driver’s Vehicle Registration.
3. Driver’s Proof of Insurance.
4. You must also pass a National Crime Information Center – Interstate Identification Index (NCIC-III) background check. As you can see photographs are allowed but you will be told that all photos MUST have the mountain range in the background and should you be caught photographing anything but the static displays your camera will be confiscated along with any storage cards you may have (SD, CF, etc).

They don't make it easy to visit but it is an interesting site to see if you're in the area! Before you go make sure and check this website:
