F. P. Jones Company, 229 Seventeenth Street, Circa 1906

A building supply and coal mining business, the F. P. Jones Co. opened on 17th Street around 1898. The company was a miner and shipper of Pittsburg No. 8, Fairmont & Pittsburg Coal, and Connellsville Coke. They also supplied cement, lime, sand, gravel, stone, brick, sewer pipe, fire clay products (including for the Rogers Hotel), and roofing supplies to local builders. In 1923, the company name was changed to Builders Supply & Fuel Co. The company filed for bankruptcy in 1944.
