Bologna, Chiesa di S.M. della Vita - a photo on Flickriver

            Il Compianto, opera di grande potenza espressiva, è il capolavoro di Niccolò dell'Arca e risale al 15° secolo. 
Si tratta di un'opera composta da sette figure a grandezza naturale in terracotta con tracce di policromia. Al centro sta il Cristo morto, disteso con la testa reclinata su un cuscino con  intorno le altre figure che lo piangono. 

The Lamentation, a work of great expressive power, is the masterpiece of Niccolò dell'Arca and dates back to the 15th century.
It is a work composed of seven life-size figures in terracotta with traces of polychromy. In the center is the dead Christ, lying with his head reclining on a pillow with the other figures around him mourning him
