Where have you been tonight? - a photo on Flickriver

            Female Azure damselfly, Coenagrion puella. Not sure what that stuff is around her head, maybe she's only recently emerged.

I've seen quite a few dameslflies resembling this one and struggled to identify them due to their lack of distinguishing features. Male Azures are quite easy because they have the u-shaped mark just behind the wings but females lack the mark and have mostly-black markings. So they resemble male blue-tailed damselflies but the blue-tail also has a distinctive  mark (as many blue damselflies do).
