Slash day and some Backyard Bliss, Malibu ca

Saturday was quite the day of rainbows here in So Cal.... while it was a weekend of song writing and gallery contemplation... I found the time to chase down a few passing hail storms in search of colored prisms of light. At one point, during rehearsals, deep in the Valley, as Slash (GnR) ripped solos at my back to the delightful melody of "Night Train" LIVE, yes, I watch the sky open.... and the prospect of Rainbows glimmered in my subconscious. As delightful the thought of such a music legend rockin at ears length, I can't help but smile at the thought of chasing rainbows thru the Malibu hillsides... a sure sign, mind you, that I'm on the right path in life. How refreshing. Along Las Virginas I spotted my first, .... as I peered around a bend just approaching Piuma... looking left, arched across the sky... a giant full Bow that almost sent me driving off a cliff, had I not had a passenger in the car... i might have stopped immediately, but for his safety sake I decided to turn around further ahead and in a much safer fashion. Wouldn't ya know, in that 5 mins it took me to flip a bitch, the bow faded away into the nether :( Oh well, it's a long way still to my home in the hills.
The rest of the ride was filled with excitement and danger, everywhere you looked, rainbow ghosts were glimmering in the 3rd dimension... teasing me at every turn, thru rain and hail... I finally made it home.... un-bowed... camera still cocked and ready like a seasoned gun slinger in the wild wild west, I only needed a second.... time was ticking now and my stomach was growling... we decided to settle down for a nice Malibu Seafood dinner... me, my guest, Marcela, Bella, Star, Cowboy, Koo Koo.... as you might imagine, dinner conversation and music talk consumed and distracted the very notion of Bows... faintly I remembered a darkness looming outside...... and I do believe I lost track of time for a moment, until of course, from the very corner of my eye, in passing, I noticed the most vibrant beam of light hovering directly off my balcony. I swear it was magic.... the glimmering and sparkle of light frozen in that hail storm was godly... like I've never seen.... A FULL double bow.... here it is.... shot from my porch with a 17MM... I cropped the outter bow from this image because it was very muted and hard to see in the hail droplets.... funny, I spend so much time chasing down bows, it's amusing to me that this one came to me without any effort, i just know there is a lesson to be learned in there somewhere :)...... I even threw a snowball at my girl :) Ha, "a snowball in Malibu" ...... Sounds like a nice title for my auto-biography. Some day. I'll have to remember that.
Later that night, just before sunset, I sat in my car at the very rim of the Coral Hilltops.... 2000Ft up I suppose, in the hail.... waiting.... and waiting.... a giant bow hovered over the pacific, enormous.... like a slowly creeping spaceship with multi-colored lights.... but badly faint and hardly visible thru the many showers and hail pellets between us. Still I sat and admired it's beauty thru my foggy windows until the last light crept down behind the hillsides at my back. And then, far off in the distance, that small beacon of earthly magic light, once radiant and extraordinary.... went dark.
