Guadalupe Celebrations at Saint Gabriel, Colorado Springs

            The annual celebrations of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, held at Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, Colorado Springs.  We begin with the mañanitas (morning songs) for Our Lady at 4am, followed by a Mass and convivio (potluck breakfast).  In the evening, when more people can attend, we had singing, mariachis, the anda (carrying the image), matachines (traditional mexican dancers, from the group called Danza Rosa del Tepeyac), and then a play by the young people depicting the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe to Saint Juan Diego on December 12th, 1531.  And, of course, lots and lots of food.
