urban model 1987. from the gdr era when brandenburger tor was right on the border

right:
current model 1:500. whites are old, woodcolored blocks are post-1990 or projects yet to be built. the reconstruction of pariser platz in front.

from the late seventies until 2007, palast der republik was the focal point for unter den linden, seen left as a red and white block. it is now demolished. to the right the projected reconstruction of the city castle (schloss) can be seen in its place. as someone once said, we glorify the past when the future dries up.
