Jungle Cat | Felis chaus in Ranthambhore National Park

            We did very well with cat sightings on our trip to India. Ranthambhore gave us two Jungle Cats and three Tigers. Desert National Park provided two Asiatic Wildcats. Gir National Park delivered four Asiatic Lions and one Leopard. On the grounds of our accommodations at that last park, the Gir Birding Lodge, we were fortunate to see one small Rusty-spotted Cat.

The only real photographic frustration of the trip was the Asiatic Wildcats in DNP. Both were very close when discovered, but I could not get a photo. Still, just seeing six cat species is incredible. Hooray India!
