            Grand Hotel de Monaco ou de Sagan

- hôtel comes from the old french word hostel meaning a place where hosts could be given a room
- did not have, at the time, the commercial meaning it has nowadays 
- built by the architect Brogniard between 1774 and 1777
The Princess of Monaco lives here until 1790
Bought in 1838 by William Hope who lives there untill his death in 1855
The embassy of Poland, being located where the Palace of the Trocadero was, where the palace of Chaillot was going to be built for the World Fair exhibition of 1937, was given this building the same year 

Construit par l'architecte Brogniart entre 1774 et 1777
- hôtel est un vieux mot français désignant une maison où l'on pouvait y accueillir des hostes; (comme dans hospital) le os fut remplacé par ô, castel par château
- n'avait pas, à l'époque, le sens commercial qu'on lui donne de nos jours
La Princesse de Monaco y réside jusqu'en 1790
Acheté par la banquier hollandais William Hope qui y réside jusqu'à son décès en 1855
L'ambassade de Pologne, étant sur des terrains du palais du Trocadéro où fut construit le futur palais de Chaillot pour l'exposition Universelle de 1937, se vit donner ce bâtiment la même année
