            la pyramide a été conçue par l'architecte sino-américain Ieoh Ming Pei. 
La structure, qui a été entièrement construite en métal, s'élève à 21,64 mètres
sur une base carrée de 35,42 mètres de côté
et pèse environ 95 tonnes. 
La pyramide est composée de 603 losanges et 70 triangles en verre. 
Elle a été inaugurée le 30 mars 1989 par le président de la République François Mitterrand qui avait décidé en 1983 de sa construction
la presse surnommant à cette occasion François Mitterrand « Mitteramsès » ou « Tontonkhamon » !!!
Pourquoi une pyramide ?
c'était la seule forme géométrique qui pouvait convenir dans une cour carrée

The structure, which was constructed entirely with glass segments, reaches a height of 21.6 metres (about 71 feet);
its square base has sides of 35 metres (115 ft).
It consists of 603 rhombus-shaped and 70 triangular glass segments
it was inaugurated in on the 30th of march 1989  by the President of France François  Mitterrand who commissioned it in  1983
AT this occasion, François Mitterrand was nicknamed «Mitteramsès » or « Tontonkhamon » !!!
Why a pyramid ?
It was the only geometrical design that could fit in a square courtyard
