Poppy sunburst

            I had been looking for a poppy field for a couple of weeks. Yes, I knew there was one up near Blyth, one down by Dudley and several darn sarf. But none less than one and a half hour's drive from home. But a weekend near York had me looking for lavender and there is a lavender farm about 15 miles north of York. I was almost there. Just about another half mile to go the satnav said when I saw a flash of orangey red through a slit in the roadside hedge. Poppies galore!

When the sun is still high there is only one way to photograph poppies: on your back.
