28 May 2023 — Morse, Texas, USA — Wall cloud

            My new, favorite, wall cloud showed up May 28th near Morse, Texas. 

It took shape on the first of three supercells that launched off a westbound outflow boundary. Wasn’t planning on that, but you take those wherever you can get them. As fast as that boundary was moving, I was concerned it might just pop storms and quickly undercut them. But they all managed to thrive with the last cell dropping a solid tornado. Looking at radar archives, it seems it had been traveling long enough to gradually get modified/warmed up on its way to kicking off these storms. So apparently it wasn’t as hostile to surface air as I thought. 

Anyway this thing dished a good 20 minutes of compact, mesmerizing rotation punctuated by funnels. And all that through clear air while we positioned on the west side of the storm as it drifted northward.
