Savon Blanche Leigh - a photo on Flickriver

The neon lights of Zédel brasserie in London are reflected in their huge and magnificent Art Nouveau poster, Savon Blanche Leigh from 1899.

Blanche Leigh was a cosmetics company which specialised in soap, and was founded by Madame Blanche Leigh, an Englishwoman. Her soap creations were famed for the ground-breaking process she used to create and package her soap, most of which she hand-made herself.

Blanche Leigh was also known for her product packaging: instead of the usual rice paper of the time, she used parchment paper to wrap her soap, so that the precious perfume didn’t escape. Her shop was in Rue De Lorraine in Paris.
