Ruddy Turnstone (Arenaria interpres)

            The Ruddy Turnstone has an almost global distribution. Named after its habit of turning over pebbles in search of prey, it now seems to have learnt that humans are a good source of food and will abandon the shoreline to search for titbits on the nearby pavements and gutters.
This image was taken in more natural surroundings on the rocky coastline separating Spittal Pond NR from the Atlantic Ocean in Bermuda.
