Tulip Time in the Garden #118 - a photo on Flickriver

My parents were very keen gardeners, and we now live in the house they built in 1980. The basic structure of the garden is much as it was when they were here, but we have filled the beds with longer lasting perennials and shrubs, and allowed things like forget-me-nots to self seed. My father always grew his own bedding plants from seed in the greenhouse, and my mother tended them, then they filled the beds and hanging baskets with a glorious cacophony of colour. I prefer something more sedate - and I think the birds do too... It's nice to live with the memories, but as I never grew up in this house, it has been easy to make it our home, while retaining so many of those memories.
