A face in the village - a photo on Flickriver

            This is Christine Dick sitting on a bench at the Markyate parish cemetery. She is quite happy to tell me that she had a full life and that life has been good to her. Her husband died long time ago - he used to be a jockey, and horses did also play a dominant role in Christine's life. She did all sorts of horse-related stunts for the film and movie industry, not just riding, but also driving chariots and the like. She tells me that she worked with some really prominent names: Kirk Douglas, Burt Lancaster, and Sean Connery. Life has been a lot quieter now, but not less interesting. She has stories to tell about the village, and she is also keenly curious to find out about the village stories she does not yet know. Life will come to an end, but boring it has not been.
