Misty Borneo morning - a photo on Flickriver

            Early morning cloud and mist envelops Mount Mulu in Gunung Mulu National Park, Sarawak, on the island of Borneo. The forest in Borneo (what remains of it) is awesome, teeming with all sorts of living creatures and just how I imagined a jungle would be when I was a kid. To capture this image I rose before sunrise and made a short trek in the dark pre-dawn along a steep narrow track through the tangled trees up to this lookout. Wearing a head-light as I climbed the trail, I found there was a tiny bat tightly circling my head in search of insects attracted by the light, its wingtips even brushing my face in its flight. Truly a magical experience.
