09.03.24 Gulbene DR1A-227 - a photo on Flickriver

            Pasažieru Vilciens (Vivi) RVR built diesel set  DR1A-227 is seen at Gulbene on 9 March 2024. It came in on train 804, 08:31 Rīga to Gulbene and stayed there all day to head back on train 803, 18:05 Gulbene to Rīga. The same conductor (possibly driver too) worked both trains probably extending to something like a 14 hour turn.

For many years, the last section of line from Madona to Gulbene has had an extremely sparse service. The Saturday timetable with these two trains fits in well with the narrow gauge to Alūksne making a day trip certainly from Riga possible.
