House Martin (Delichon urbicum) - a photo on Flickriver

            After an absence of a year, a few House Martins have returned to a friends farm.

They were circling a patch of soft mud in the horse paddock. It was drying up rapidly so I emptied a few buckets of water onto the mud and they came straight back in.

A few Swallows joined them and were landing on the far side of the puddle. The pretty little House Martins are more trusting and were landing right in front of me.

I sat on the ground and took a few shots when one of the horses saw me with the bucket and thought I had come to feed him. He came over and stood in front of me.

It didn't spoil my chances of taking some shots because I got this one shooting through the horses legs.

It would have made an interesting shot if someone had photographed me photographing the House Martins.
