            Nottingham City Transport (NCT) is one of the largest remaining municipal bus companies and is regarded as one of the best operators in the UK. In the early 1960’s City of Nottingham Transport as it was then developed a very strong corporate identity with an attractive “two tone” green livery and its own distinct standard double deck bus body specification for rear engined, front loading buses. The initial purchase of rear engined buses was a batch of forty nine Damiler Fleetliner’s in 1962/63. It then moved on to the Leyland Atlantean chassis and versions of this chassis would be purchased by City of Nottingham Transport up to 1982, when three hundred and eighty had been bought over the twenty year period. Also during this period the Damiler Fleetliner chassis was not forgotten and one hundred and twenty nine were purchased between 1967 and 1978 fitted with bodies to the Nottingham specification. 170 (ETO 170L) is one of a batch of fifteen Damiler Fleetliner CRG6LX chassis fitted with a Willowbrook H47/30D body and entered service in 1973. It is seen here in Angle Row, Nottingham, 31st May 1977. It was eventually sold to Smiths of Tysoe who used it in the Walsall area and ended its days at the Fire Brigade Training Centre at Moreton on the Marsh
