Farewell, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, a highly conscientious judge

            Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Shah passed away at the age of 84. He also authored a major book 'Law Courts in a Glass House' giving the entire history of Pakistan's judicial system and history. His father who was a registrar in the Federal Court had to don a burqa and accept the constitutional petition of Speaker Maulvi Tamizuddin Khan against Governor General Ghulam Mohammed, when the latter dismissed the Constituent Assembly in 1953. Justice Shah was a joint secretary  in the ministry of law before becoming a judge of the Sindh High Court. He moved his way up to the top without fear or favor and incurred the wrath of several heads of government and state in the process. May his soul rest in eternal peace!
