            I was a bit short on ideas for Sliders Sunday today. I had tired of my over-saturated Nik Color Efex concoctions, but what could I do?

This is a set of five variations all based on a single image. The original was an in-camera multiple exposure of two ICMs, both of a wheelbarrow full of pumpkins outside the National Trust shop when I visited the Wimpole Estate near Cambridge recently. The ICMs were movements along the diagonals of the 3:2 frame of the Z6, blended by the camera with Lighten mode. 

I rather like the graphic nature of the result with its blocks of vivid colour.

The variants are:

I - A normal edit with sharpening and colour tweaks. I used Topaz Sharpen AI for part of it partly to smooth the result and overcome the noise from the standard sharpening, which seems a little counter-intuitive. All the other variants are based on this one.

II - This is a simple mirror distortion in Affinity, using two mirrors and changing the input angle a bit for this particular pattern. I like this one for its soft nebulous feel as well as the symmetry which always appeals to my brain (what’s left of it anyway ;) ). It’s probably my favourite.

III - This, like the rest, was created in Topaz Studio 2 (TS2). This one uses the Remix filter in one of its guises which often produces the effect of stained glass. Here, though, the effect seems more like craquelure.

IV - TS2 again with a painterly variant using the Impressions filter. I tend to like painterly renditions…

V - Finally an organic fibre look with the Glow filter in TS2. The filter is a bit like and edge detect filter on steroids. It’s interesting but the downside of using it is that it is instantly recognisable as a TS2 artefact, particularly in its extreme uses like this. I’ll put this one in Sliders Sunday because it is so odd.
