The visitors went to see a vocational training centre run by Muslim Aid, Plan’s partner organization in Bawniabandh, Mirpur. At the centre girls are trained in industrial sewing, Jori-Chumki (embroidery with sequence) and electronics manufacture. The training is very practical and can often lead directly to a job and an income for the girls. This empowers them and breaks the cycle of reliance on men to provide an income that can often lead to their basic rights being undermined.
