Record shot: Female tormentil mining bee (Andrena tarsata)

An exciting find for me (because I love finding any insects, and especially bees) that was made even more exciting when I realised I'd found a Scottish Biodiversity List Species (and a new record for the area---Kinnaber, Montrose, Angus). For now, just record shots (this one of a female at a nest burrow), but I hope to find these again later this year (maybe even in my garden as I've added tormentil for them), and to get better shots (they hardly settled!).

According to Buglife's Species Management sheet (cdn.buglife.org.uk/2019/08/Tormentil-mining-bee-and-nomad...): "The Tormentil mining bee is a small, black solitary bee. It is nationally scarce and has declined so much that it is listed as a Section 41 Conservation Priority Species in England, a Section 42 Conservation Priority Species in Wales, and a Scottish Biodiversity List Species."
