Shared Memories - A Somme Reflection

            Students from Collège Jacques Monod Compiègne, France (in white shirts) and St Peter's College, Auckland (in blue), as they commemorate the first day of the Battle of the Somme, with songs, poems and readings.  Especially poignant were the letters sent home from soldiers.

A collaboration between the two schools to research and share stories of the First World War experiences of New Zealand and French soldiers.

A lovely touch at the end - New Zealand National anthem sung by both together - in Maori and English.
