ENJOYING A BEAUTIFUL VIEW (2017) - a photo on Flickriver

(From my personal digital image archive, year 2017)

In the municipality of Riofrio de Riaza, in Puerto de la Quesera, natural border between the provinces of Guadalajara and Segovia, is located the beech forest known as Hayedo de la Pedrosa.

It extends around 87 kms2 and heights between 1.500 and 1.700 meters and it is one of the most southern beech forests in the world. Inside you can find centenary trees, twisted, full of moss and lichens that remind us of the forests of fairy tales.

In autumn, the color of its leaves changes from green to golden tones, offering the visitor a visual spectacle of extreme beauty. Added to the beauty of the beeches is the panoramic view that can be seen, enjoying the views of the Riaza River Valley, the reservoir and the town of Riofrio, Riaza and other villages in the region.

It is worth mentioning that due to its land type, state of conservation and beauty, this beech forest has been included in the Natura 2000 Network as a natural area of great ecological value. (Source:"Segovia Un Buen Plan" bit.ly/3n1kmaR)
