La règle des tiers est une règle de composition. Imaginez séparer une photo en trois tant horizontalement que verticalement. Cette règle demande que le point d'intérêt de la photo se retrouve au croisement de ces tiers imaginaires. C'est une règle que j'utilise très souvent dans la composition de mes photos. Sur la photo de ce chat-de-neige, l'oeil gauche du chat se retrouve au croisement exact du tiers supérieur et du tiers droit de la photo.

The rule of thirds is a composition rule. Imagine dividing a photograph in three vertically and horizontally. According to this rule, the photo's focal point should be at the crossing of those imaginary lines. I use this rule very often when framing my pictures. On this snowcat photo, the left eye of the cat is positionned exactly at the crossing of the top third and the rightmost third.
